Spam is a term used by the Internet community to describe the unwanted delivery of unsolicited and/or bulk and/or commercial e-mail and newsgroup messages. MyDomain members are not permitted to use any of our services or resources to send spam or to advertise domains hosted on our network by spamming.

Your Privacy Is Protected

If you are currently receiving spam messages, you can rest assured that your address was not obtained through our records. We do not provide member information to third-parties.

Web Surfing and Spam

When you are viewing webpages, there is a chance that your e-mail address is being relayed to another source. Simply loading a webpage will not cause this to happen. However, you can transfer personal information about yourself if you click on a button or link. It is possible for webpages to mask the relaying of personal information so that you are unaware it is happening.

To avoid the capture of your e-mail address, you may wish to:

  • Remove your e-mail address and other personal information from the Mail settings within your web browser (e.g., Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, etc.).
  • Use an e-mail program completely separate from your web browser, such as Eudora.

Spam from Newsgroups

There is also a chance that you will receive spam messages and attachments from unknown sources if your e-mail address is configured within your newsreader. To ensure you don't receive a mass of spam messages when you post to newsgroups, one solution is to configure your newsreader so that your "Reply To:" address is different from your actual e-mail address.

Spam Spam Spam

Finally, if your e-mail address appears on any webpage, anywhere on the Internet, whether you put it there or not, you could receive unsolicited e-mail. Major search engines list many links to websites devoted to the definition of Spam and techniques to avoid receiving it.
